Mobile event applications for smart phones seem to be more prevalent than ever. Companies and organizations use them to communicate before, during and even after the event. It creates a space to share speaker bios, sponsor profiles, session topics and agendas without having to print all those documents. Instead of handing them something that will most likely get thrown away or lost, your entire event can ride around in their pocket.

Are these applications worth the investment? It really depends on the type of event you’re hosting. For example, a half day event with fewer than 50 attendees probably isn’t worth the money. But, if you’re hosting a multiple day event with hundreds of people, an app might just work for you and your team.

Here are four reasons you should consider an app for your next event:

  1. Spend less money on printing. The app would allow you to share all of your event documents electronically.
  2. Speak directly to attendees through push notifications during the event. With an app, you can remind your guests about an upcoming session or even when your silent auction is ending.
  3. Survey attendees easily. Nothing is more frustrating than emailing out or even printing surveys and receiving low response rates. Increase survey participation by making it easier and more convenient for attendees to access and house it in your mobile app. Participants will appreciate the no hassle approach and be more likely to respond.
  4. Provide personalized agendas at the touch of a button. Let’s say you’re planning an event with multiple tracks. An event app would allow you to send each attendee their unique schedule for the day. This works great to lessen the confusion that can sometimes come about. They’ll know exactly where they need to be every step of the way.
